Charlotte Public Library

Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.

Who can get a card
Any Charlotte citizen over 5 years of age may apply for a library card the first time for free.

How to Get Your Card
Please step into the library Mon-Fri, 8-5 ( closed from 12-1). Fill out an application, with your name, address, and phone number. If it is for a child under 12, the parent must sign it as well.

Borrowing Limits

Patrons may check out a total of 5 items at a time. This includes books, DVD's, and audio books. These items may be checked out for a total of two weeks. If returned later than due date (in back of book on check out card), there will be a fine assessed of $ .25 per day/per book charged to the account.

Placing Holds

Because the library is small, there will be no holds placed on items.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Items may be renewed for one (1) week; at that time the item will need to be returned so others may enjoy the item as well.

Library Fines

Library fines will be accrued at $ .25 per day, per book. That means that if you have 2 books out, and they are returned 3 days late, it will be 2 books x $ .25 x 3 days.
